BaccaConnect

Agent Setup Guide

The BaccaConnect Agent is a small background app that runs on your Mac. It connects your audio interface to BaccaConnect sessions — enabling uncompressed, professional-quality audio over the internet.

Download Agent for macOS (1.7 MB, v1.0.2)

Installation

  1. Download the zip file above and open it. You'll see BaccaConnect Agent.app.
  2. Move the app to your /Applications folder (or anywhere you prefer).
  3. First launch: Right-click the app and choose Open. macOS may show a security warning since the app isn't notarized yet — click Open to confirm.
  4. Look for the menu bar icon — a small antenna icon will appear in your menu bar. This means the agent is running.
  5. Go to your dashboard at connect.baccasound.com. The Audio panel should show "Connected" in green.
  6. Select your audio device — choose your input and output devices from the dropdowns, set the channel range, and click Save Device Selection.

How It Works

The agent runs quietly in the background. When you start a session from the web dashboard, the agent handles the audio connection automatically — launching JackTrip for uncompressed PCM audio between your studio and the remote participant.

The agent communicates only with your web browser on localhost:7865. It does not send any data to the internet — all session management goes through the web app at connect.baccasound.com.

Requirements: macOS 12 (Monterey) or later. An audio interface is recommended for professional sessions (e.g., RME, Universal Audio, Focusrite). Built-in speakers and microphone will work for testing.

Auto-Start on Login (Optional)

To have the agent start automatically when you log in:

  1. Open System Settings → General → Login Items.
  2. Click + and select BaccaConnect Agent.app from your Applications folder.

Troubleshooting

  1. Dashboard says "Not Found": Make sure the agent is running (check for the antenna icon in the menu bar). If it's not there, launch the app from your Applications folder.
  2. macOS blocks the app: Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click "Open Anyway" next to the BaccaConnect Agent message.
  3. No audio devices shown: Make sure your audio interface is connected and powered on before launching the agent. Quit and relaunch the agent if you connected the interface after launch.
